These Easy Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes require no draining and only 7 minutes of cooking time!

These Easy Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes require no draining and only 7 minutes of cooking time!

Is there anything quite as comforting as a bowl of buttery mashed potatoes? I don’t think so! These Easy Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes are quick easy and make the perfect side dish. It goes perfectly with Cajun Pork Chops or Buffalo Chicken Tenders!

This Instant Pot recipe is a little different from other Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes because it doesn’t require draining. The potatoes cook with garlic cloves and chicken broth until tender then butter, milk and sour cream is added and they are mashed until perfectly creamy!

What ingredients do you need to make Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes?

You only need a few basic ingredients to make these ultra creamy Instant Pot mashed potatoes. They include:

  • Potatoes
  • Whole Garlic Cloves
  • Chicken broth
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Butter
  • Milk
  • Sour Cream

Though this is an excellent recipe, it also works great as a base recipe. If you like loaded mashed potatoes you can top this recipe with additional ingredients such as bacon, cheddar, parmesan, green onions, brown butter, roasted garlic or chopped ham!

These Easy Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes require no draining and only 7 minutes of cooking time!

How do you make Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes?

  1. Wash and chop the potatoes into small chunks. Peel the garlic cloves.
  2. Place the potatoes, garlic cloves and chicken broth in the Instant Pot.
  3. Secure the lid and seal the valve. Press “steam” and adjust time to 7 minutes.
  4. When cooking cycle has finished carefully release the steam.
  5. Add milk, butter, sour cream, salt and pepper and mash with a potato masher until smooth.

How long do you cook mashed potatoes in the Instant Pot?

The cooking time for mashed potatoes in the Instant Pot is 7 minutes. If you are new to Instant Pots remember once you set the time it does take the machine 10-15 minutes to get up to pressure. Once the machine has reached the correct pressure level the timer will begin to count and your cooking time has begin. The machine will beep when the 7 minute cooking cycle is over.

What are some other easy Instant Pot recipes?

One of my all time favorite Instant Pot recipes is this Collard Green and Black Eyed Pea Soup. When cooked in the Instant Pot the greens become ultra tender and have an amazing flavor. This soup is packed with ground beef, spicy tomatoes, greens and black eyed peas, it is perfect served with this Cheesy Cornbread. Some other Instant Pot recipes I love are:

  • Buffalo Chicken Soup
  • Pizza Soup
  • Cheesy Sausage and Cabbage

This Collard Green and Black Eyed Pea Soup is the ultimate comfort food! Loaded with ground beef, carrots, collard greens and black eyed peas this is the perfect winter food!

What should I serve with Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes?

There really isn’t much that isn’t made better with the addition of mashed potatoes in my opinion, but I love to serve these with this Easy Buffalo Roast Chicken. The creamy, butter loaded potatoes go so well with the spicy chicken. A few of my other favorites are:

  • Steak Rolls (loaded with green beans, peppers and onions)
  • Honey Chipotle Grilled Chicken
  • BBQ Pulled Pork
  • Chipotle Ranch Grilled Chicken

The BEST Chipotle Ranch Grilled Chicken perfect for salads, wraps and easy healthy meal prep!
