The BEST Pallet Project DIYs
Pallet projects are one of my all time favorite ways to reuse materials. You can make so many things out of the wood you would otherwise just throw away! Whether you’re looking for a way to use pallet wood to make decor or something more functional, you can find a way to put it to good use in this list!
Breaking down pallets for the wood is so handy, especially with the recent increase in the price of wood. So put your materials to good use and get creative while you’re at it!
One of the reasons I really enjoy making pallet projects is that I know I can make something for either indoors or outdoors. You can also easily use pallets throughout the year, so whether you’re gearing up for spring, summer, fall or winter, you can find a use for that pallet that’s been sitting in the garage! If you can imagine it, you can make it with pallet wood.
How do I break down a pallet?
I go into that very thoroughly in my post on DIY Dismantling a Pallet, so if you haven’t checked that out before, I recommend starting there. All you’ll need is a hammer, a pry bar, a spare piece of 4×4 wood, and a piece of 1×4, 1×6, or a similarly sized board.
Slide the wood in between the top and bottom boards of your pallet to give yourself some leverage. You’ll then hammer your pry bar in between the nail and the wood and pry the nail out. Continue all the way down the pallet until you’ve removed all of the nails and gotten all of the wood out! Check out this post and this video below for a more in-depth look:
